Sweet Death

Death of a Sweet Broom plant that is. it's been almost 2 weeks since we planted them and there is one that is not doing so well. we thought he'd perk up. but he didn't. then he appeared to be only mostly dead and we were hoping he'd have some truly noble reason for hanging on. but apparently not. so now we're going to have to go back to home depot and hope they still have some of those so we can exchange it. although, according to my mother-in-law who apparently frequents home depot, they rotate their stock quite often so chances are we won't find the same plant. in which case, what the hell is the point of them having a 1 year guarantee? well i suppose you could make them order it in couldn't you? we lined them up next to the sidewalk, so we'd either have a big gap where it used to be or have to dig them all up and replace them all. which would be a huge pain in the ass. so yeah, i think i'd make them order it in. good idea. just in case it's not there anyway.

i have 2 rosebushes to plant this weekend that my husband got me the other day. a pink one and a red one. i've never planted roses so i read the directions and they are different. i have to soak the roots in water and build a little mound inside the hole to spread the roots out on. which actually sorta makes sense, but it'll take more work than everything else we've planted so far. and i have some bulbs i need to plant too. i forgot what they are. something with purple flowers and something with orange and white flowers.

and then we have to kill weeds. it's been hard to have the time to spray weed killer stuff cuz it's been so windy. i managed to spray some yesterday when i got home from work cuz it was only a little breezy. but we're going to have to mow them down. now how come in the 2 weeks that our bushes have been planted, the weeds have grown to about 6 times their height and there is no noticable difference in the plants??? some weeds are taller than the little bushes now!! especially around the bushes since they are getting water now.

and we have to work inside the house since it's only about 4 weeks til school is out and the kid moves in! time goes by so fast when there is a deadline! stuff did get moved out of her room last week, so it's getting closer. i still need to get all my crap out of her closet so she can use it. i have shelves in my shed now, so i can move a bunch of stuff out. then i have to paint her room. well, just one wall, so that'll be easy. hahahaha!!!

Here comes the rain again...

And we have boards in the back for our gate getting wet. We just bought them last weekend and hadn't had time to seal them yet. Since for some dumb reason, Lowe's doesn't sell wood that is obviously meant for fences...or gates...or other outdoor use that is treated! How dumb is that? So anyway, it started raining last night and I totally didn't think about it, but then my husband called me this morning cuz he had just realized our wood was outside getting rained on. So I'm going to run home at lunch and bring it into the kitchen to start drying out.

I have returned!

Wow, ever so much has happened since i last wrote. I got married, have a kid (stepdaughter..but still...). Wow! So I got married last month. I'm still working on changing my name on everything. That's been the hardest part. We just had a small ceremony at the courthouse, lunch at Capo's Italian Restaurant and then we went away for the weekend. My mom thought we should have a reception, so she took care of all that and we had it the next weekend. Then my grandma died. She actually had a stroke the day before we got married then passed away exactly 2 weeks later. So that was very hard. Talk about emotional roller coaster! But my husband was such a great comfort to me and really helped me get thru this. I just can't thank him enough!

We've been working on the house and yard to get it ready for the summer when we move his daughter in. we're still going between our house and his mom's house so we didn't have to pull her out of school. Trying to keep up on the weeds so they don't get overgrown like they did last summer. Moving furniture around to make room for the kid in the other bedroom. That's the computer room and junk room right now. so junk needs to come out, computer needs to come out. so all that is going to be out in the living room. i'm getting rid of crap little by little. i've actually hauled off a good deal of stuff. donated some to the thrift store. thrown some away. it's coming along. still have a ways to go....and only two months to get it done til the end of school. oh and the backyard has to be ready for the dogs to come live with us. we have one more gate to build and then i think it's ready. but with all the stickers from last year's weeds, it won't be ready yet. i don't know how we're going to clean them all up. they are probably going to be around for a while. but i guess the dogs will have to live there anyway. oh and we're ordering a bunch of bushes for the backyard, so we need to get the holes dug and all that for them cuz they are bare root and need to be dropped right away when we get them home. so we have a Lot of work ahead of us in the next couple weeks just on the yard itself. blech....

It's Aliiiiivveeee

Yeah, it's been a while. All the stuff with the house and moving and unpacking...and avoiding unpacking...mainly that. i still have so much to do that i so don't feel like doing.

11/27/06 holy crap, i started the above in september! apparently i havent been on here in a while. busy still. with things outside of home mainly. still working on crap at the house. still rearranging and trying to get rid of stuff. now i have an electrical issue that needs to be taken care of and a sinking porch. i was able to get a lot done over the long weekend thanks to my boyfriend. yup, there is a boyfriend. hence the being busy! hahahaa! so he helped a lot this weekend since we were both off. there is still a lot to do, but this weekend jump started things. i really want to get stuff done now. now that he helped me do a couple things that i couldn't do on my own. oh, and i developed bursitis in my left shoulder in august, so i havent' been able to do much lifting or anything. i haven't even played tennis since labor day weekend. so that's another reason i haven't been able to do certain things...cuz i've needed someone to come move something or whatever. so some big things got done so i can start on little stuff that i can handle on my own. i haven't even changed one of my clocks because i have to reach up for it and it's in a weird spot. things are starting to come together a little better now. just needed to get into a groove.

I'm Officially Moved In!!

I have Finally gotten all my crap moved in!! Yesterday I made my last couple of trips to the old house to clean up and move the last few things out. Although I did forget some popsicles in the freezer. Now I just need to get it all arranged in my new place. WOW i have a ton of shit! I'm seriously going to have to go thru everything and get rid of stuff. How did I collect so much crap?!?

Still Moving

Holy crap i'm pooped! I've been moving crap all weekend. AND having to deal with my mom on top of it all. That just makes it all the more tiring cuz it's so draining having to deal with her. BUT she's helping, so i'm tolerating. Like she's all bugged cuz it's taking me so long to move. Yeah, i'm just doing it after work and crap, so yeah, it's not going to be all that quick. I did take a couple days off last week to do stuff. My fuck toy let me borrow his truck when i was off, so that helped considerably. Then I went back to work on friday to rest before the weekend's moving. Now i'm back and work and just sooo tired! At least I have tennis tonight after work so I won't be able to really move much of anything. I can just get some rest tonight. And see how much my mom has moved today! She said she was going to come into town and pack and move crap for me! woohoo!! THAT'S why i tolerate her! HAHA!

...wner. When i was going home from closing I called my mom and said that i just became a homeowner she goes, "HOMO??" So i had to repeat myself. She started cracking up and told my dad that I became a homo as she was cackling to herself. So holy crap! I have a house!! On Sunday me and my mom went running around getting a few things. She got me a screen door and a new faucet for my kitchen. I got some bathroom stuff, a curved shower curtain rod, towel rods and some little accessories that were on clearance! shower curtain, waste basket, toothbrush holder, soap dish. ALL in the color I wanted and those were the only color that was on clearance! The same exact style ones in different colors were regular price! HHAAHA!! So last night I took a few boxes to the house and installed my towel hangers. I had one rod and one ring for a hand towel. i might do my curtain rod tonight. then my bathroom will pretty much be done. i'll just need to move the rest of my bathroom stuff over. It's gonna take me forever to move cuz before I actually got the house, i just wasn't motivated to do anything cuz i didn't have a house yet! But NOW! Yikes! i have a ton of stuff to move!! it's going to be insane! I'm taking a day or two off this week to get crap taken care of. Probably tomorrow and thursday. EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Closing rescheduled

Ok, closing was supposed to have been yesterday. But there was some delay with the paperwork. So now it's scheduled for tomorrow. And i still don't have an amount that i need to take in with me! They are really on the ball with this. Are they usually this retarded?? This is my first experience, so i don't know. But yikes. It's like no one is communicating with each other. They are very on top of it. But oh! I went to do another quick little walk thru on Monday just to check things out cuz it had been raining like mad the past few days and it's a flat roof and has a skylight, so i wanted to see if it leaked. Well, it leaks. The skylight does, not the roof itself. It hasn't rained since Sunday and it doesn't look like it will anytime soon either. So as soon as i take possession i'm going to have someone out there to look at it and get it fixed properly. Cuz I went up on the roof on monday to check it out. The skylight, first of all, has caulking all around it. HA! So naturally that's dried up and peeled away from the skylight. Hence the leak. That's it. I didn't think that was any major deal. And the seller is going to give me more of a repair credit for that. So that's cool. So now the closing is scheduled for 3pm tomorrow. So well see if this one goes thru!

House

And not the one with Hugh Laurie....sigh...oh well. A girl can dream. But anyway, things are progressing nicely with the house I put an offer on last month. Closing is drawing near. I'm beginning to feel twinges of excitement about this. My mom is still more excited about this than I am at this point. It's not mine yet, no reason to be all excited for something that isn't mine. She doesn't understand that. But I said when I get the keys in my hot little hands, THEN it'll be a different story. Just waiting now. Closing should be next week sometime.

Delirious

It was another late night. It was my friend R's birthday party. So I couldn't leave early. That would be rude. HAHAHA!! Of course by the end there were only 4 of us left! So three of them were going out to breakfast and I was pooped and said I was going home. But he asked me to go, so I couldn't disappoint him on his birthday, so I went. We were at Village Inn for over 2 hours! But holy crap we were having a freaking blast!! We were talking about sex and mexicans doing yard work and tv and Neitzche and the theory of warp drives and transporters. It was awesome! I even got in on that last one, and the other girl there just gave me this odd look when i popped into that conversation, cuz it started out just the two boys arguing about some "details" about warp drive and whatnot. And then when I got in, i can't even explain the look she gave me. Probably partly that I actually knew what they were talking about and then partly a don't encourage them look. But I'm really not sure, but it amused me. So there were three of us arguing about warp! It was hilarious! So when we finally left the building, we were out front for a while talking still. Then D had to go back in to go to the bathroom and R says something about how she's a great lady, she's really nice, but she needs to have her fucking head examined. I died laughing! But it's so true! HAHA!! So we hung out a bit longer up there then finally left. It was just about 4 when I got home. So I only got about 3 hours of sleep so I'm completely out of it! Although it's no different than normal these days!!

My First Time...

It was GREAT!! It was with three guys and they were very patient with me. I had some idea how it's done since I've been watching a lot. So that helped. They gave me tips and suggestions. They took a lot themselves, I don't know why. Many times I was there and in place and ready for it, but one of the other guys would jump in my way and take it instead. You'd think that since I was new that I should take as much that came my way as I could to get used to it. I did take a good number of them and most of the time did what I needed to do with it. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be. Which isn't a bad thing. But it was still a total blast and I'm definitely going to be doing it more now that I got my first time over with!! And the guys did say they'd do it with me again!! I can't wait!!

Weekend

I'm finally getting over being sick. I bummed around Saturday with JoAnne. We went to the pool and i got a bit more tanned. And a tad burned on my back. I got a new bikini so I wore that. And like an idiot, I actually tried swimming in it. Boobies everywhere!!! I wonder how many little boys were underwater with their goggles. Or how many daddies? HAHAHAHA!! But it was fun. The water felt SO good! And just lounging around was great. Then we went to lunch and just sat and talked. There at the club, so we were still in our suits. It was great! Saturday night I ended up going to the bar (go figure) and had a great time. I actually sang karaoke again!! T & I discovered that we're both pathetic. Long ol story. But it has to do with boys. So that's another thing me & my sis can bond about. Oh crap, have I mentioned that? There are like 5 different people now who think we are sisters! It's rather amusing. We stopped denying it and just roll with it. Like this one guy always asks one or the other of us, if we are alone, so where is your sister? so we just answer now instead of trying to argue with him. so that's just become another one of our running jokes. so oh, on sunday i had to work the track & field event. starting at 7am. last year we were done about 2pm. this year we didn't leave til 5:30. that's a damn long day in the heat. and i wasn't even on the field! i was just doing check in and selling shirts and stuff!! so the people who were working the actual events were completely miserable. i think we had a record heat day. or pretty damn near. yesterday was a record heat day, i know that. so when i got home i changed into my bikini and turned on my sprinkler in the backyard and ran thru it and got nice and wet. sat in my lawn chair reading for a bit...til i fell asleep. slept about an hour then went inside and got in bed and crashed out. i slept a good 11 hours. it was great!

Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend is always a helluva weekend. We have the NM Games basketball tournament that runs from Friday thru Monday. And I have to work ALL of it. Starting my regular day on friday at 8. Then we went to Johnson gym at about 2:30 I think to start setting up. I started check in at 4:30 for the first game at 5:30. Last game was at 9:30. So after the last game and cleaning up and whatnot we left at 11. Then Saturday had to be there at 6:45 to start check in at 7 for 8am games. Last game was at 9pm. Cleaned up and left at 10:30. Now, instead of doing the responsible thing and going home and sleeping, I decided I'd go to Sneakerz for a "quick" drink. HAHAHAHAA!!! What a maroon!! So I went, had a drink, chatted with folks then started to leave and said bye to everyone. But then i HAD to stay to listen to so-and-so sing...then someone else...then someone else.... then i had to say bye again. HAHA! left my glasses then came back to get them. Then someone snagged my ID from my pocket. So spent quite a while trying to retrieve that. Finally gave up and started to leave, then Dee came running out saying she found it. So I was out WAY longer than I intended to be. Got to sleep about 1am i think. Had to be at the gym again at 6:45. Again the last game was at 9. Left at 1030 again. Then monday, 6:45, BUT this was semi-final and finals day, so the last game was at 1 i think. So afterwards we had to clean up AND tear down and pack up. We were done about 3. Got invited to a BBQ/Pool Party afterwards. So of course i went. Had a couple of drinks and jumped in the pool. Ahh....it felt good!! Then went inside and munched then flopped on the couch and nearly dozed off. Then i decided it was best to get going home before i totally passed out cuz who knows how long i'd be unconscious. So got home and passed out for ELEVEN HOURS!!! HAHAAHAA!! And i'm SURE i could have slept more!! Damn work!! So I ended up going home early Tuesday. That was nice. Went home and relaxed. Took a fun little pain killer a friend of mine gave me and it totally killed my pain in my chest and back from coughing and even that little thing in my throat that was making me cough. It was beautiful. Went to sleep early again. Slept like a rock again, still could have slept more. It hasn't gotten better so I have a dr. appt today. I hope I get some good drugs.

And then I had a great birthday lunch at Le Cafe Miche with my good friend Joanne. I'd never been there before and never would have thought of it. I had no clue what it was or where it was and that it was so close to my work. So we met there and had a seafoody lunch. Crabcake appetizer and seafood crepes and I forgot what it was called but a little pot of creamy cheesey garlicky scallops. It was sooo good! I was so stuffed!! It was great!

The Big Three-Oh

My thirtieth birthday has been off to a tremendous start! I started partying yesterday going to a friend's party right after work hanging out, drinking margaritas and having fun. Then headed to the bar and hung out with good friends and had a grand ol time. They even got me to sing karaoke! HAHA!! Started the birthday festivities a day early and I really had a super time. All the way to this morning. Had a great conversation with a good friend last night. Got to work and saw Alb. fire & rescue and AA scraping up people from the freeway right in front of my office. I always love carnage...blood and gore and guts....then when i finished gawking i came inside and my friend here decorated the hell out of my desk! It was great! I'm wearing birthday streamer in my hair as a headband. Streamers are all above me, balloons and a bendy flower and i got cupcakes and she got me a Titanium SPORK!!!! I have a thing for sporks...and she found me a REAL SPORK!! So when we ate cupcakes, i ate it with my new spork! HAHA!! I know, I'm a dork, but WHO CARES?!?!! It's my BIRTHDAY!! I can be as dorky as I wanna be today!!! Not that it ever stops me any other time. hehe!!

Violated

Yesterday I got home from work at about 5:15. Noticed a couple things looked a little odd. Then noticed something else looked more than odd. My kitchen window was broken out. Broken glass all over. A bunch of change got taken. About $200 worth. Including about $100 worth of $1 coins in a little phone box that a friend brought me from England. My PlayStation2 and PS2 games. That's it. Oh, well and a nylon duffle bag to haul my stuff away in. So at least that's ALL that got taken. It could have been much more. But still!! I feel terribly violated!! And all the hassle this causes. And now I need to get another PS2. And then find all those games again that I had. A few of them won't be hard to find. But a few others I had a hard time finding in the first place and had to keep looking and looking. So that'll be annoying. Don't know when I'm going to get another one. I'm housesitting this week. Maybe I can set that money aside to get a new PS2. And two of those games I just got in the past week cuz I finally found them!!! That's really damn annoying. So after the investigator was finished, he showed me that he pulled 4 good prints off of the window frame where he came in. So that was exciting. So I called a friend of mine to come over and stay the night with me. So that was good. He helped me relax. My three glasses of wine and no food since lunch helped too. Had a good night. Definitely not all paranoid and freaked out if I would have just stayed by myself.

Business as Usual

On Tuesday afternoon last week, we were informed at work that we had to pack up the entire place by Friday for the movers to come first thing Saturday morning to move. We knew we were going to be moving sometime. But no one would ever tell us when. So this is how we find out. With three days notice. Nice. So the week was just nuts. Plus our whatever the hell he's called, department head or something, gave us this assignment that needed to be done TODAY (i think that was on Thursday) and he needed it by noon. So one of my co-workers was trying to relay the fact that we had a mere two days left to pack up our ENTIRE place and we'd get to it IF we could. Well no, he wouldn't have that. This is a priority. The city council needed it NOW for some dumb ass reason. And he told us that we should put everything else aside and do that because we should be operating "business as usual." Bull Crap!! goddamm! so then our direct supervisor called our head's supervisor and talked to him about this and tried to explain the situation to him. Turns out that our head was sitting on this project for about a week and just gave it to us on the day he needed to turn it back in. AND that we didn't need all that info that our head said he needed from us. It actually turned out to be a fairly easy assignment, but holy crap!! our head is one big idiot. Total pointy haired boss. So our stuff got moved this weekend. Mostly. Cuz the building we are supposed to be going into isn't ready yet. So we're going to be transplanted into one of the other division's offices until it is ready. My coworker and I will have to share an office AND ONE PHONE. NO internet. So our desks and computers aren't actually moving until tomorrow since we have to do that ourselves. At least our bill for the moving company won't be as much since they aren't going to be moving all that they thought they were going to. But eeegads, this is totally going to suck. I mean, me and A are good friends and all, but sharing an office is a Totally different story! HAHAHA!!!

Well, work is getting busier, so that's one good thing. I got my six month evaluation done yesterday. 7.5 months after i was hired in this position. So I believe I should have some backpay coming for a raise that i should have gotten Feb 6! That'll be cool!! That will help contribute to the home buying cause!!

I went to see the loan lady with my dad on Wednesday so he could help understand and ask questions. She was such a flake. I told her I wanted a $100k loan. So she started saying stuff about with a 5% down then it'll be a $95k loan and blah blah blah and i'm like what? What happened to the $100k? I have to make a downpayment on my loan in addition to the down payment on the house?? So she was all oh, that's why you told me you wanted a $100k loan. Duhhh. (she said that, she said duhh. very professional. i feel like i'm in very capable hands!) what a fruit cake. So anyway, we arrived at the heart of the matter. Got a great interest rate on it too. so we're going with that. now i just need to find a house!! I have an appointment with a real estate agent on saturday. So let the games begin!!

No go

Well, my mom called me last night about the house I was looking at. The lady who owns it called her for some dumbass reason and not me. Said that they got an offer for more money and they are closing next week. So oh well. But one good thing about it is that she kinda freaked out when an inspection was mentioned. Asking why I need one and that the house is fine and there's no reason to get one. So that was fishy. And then my mom said that she also said that she's still thinking about selling. But if they are closing next week it doesn't seem like there's much to think about is there? So that situation turned out weird and perhaps it's for the best that I didn't get that. Although if she was weirded out about an inspection maybe I would have found out something even before I bought it anyway. So back to the beat. Got to wander around again looking for homes that are way overpriced for the little pieces of crap that they are and try to find another one that I can live with.
