Apparently it is

I just called the dentist's office and asked them about the night guard situation. Apparently it's not supposed to stop the clenching, just the wear on the teeth from the clenching. And they can't separate the jaw any more because it being unnaturally separated can cause more jaw problems than ever before. So....my symptoms may be slightly diminished but they won't go away....sigh.... what a pain in my neck, literally!

Is it supposed to be like this?

I need to call my dentist. I got my night guard last wednesday. I've been wearing it every night (except for one when I passed out reading). I've still had a couple of headaches. When I first got it, I couldn't bite down on it cuz I gagged when i did. But after a couple of days I got used to it and I can bite down on it. And from what they told me, I'm not supposed to be able to. Or not with much force anyway. It was supposed to separate my teeth enough so that when I did clench down, i wouldn't be able to bite down with much force at all, which would alleviate the strain I'm feeling in my head and neck. So i have to call the dentist and ask about that issue. I have to get some more prescription toothpaste too, so I have to go anyway this week After I get paid.

Weekend

I had a pretty good weekend!

On Saturday, I stayed home while the hubby went to Moriarty to his friend's house to get some more tattoo work done. I've been going with him the previous 4 weeks and I decided to stay home this time so I could get some work done. And avoid the cat stench of their house. Holy crap, they have the raunchiest smelling house I have EVER had the misfortune to step in! When I go, I stay in the tattoo studio with them cuz he keeps the door closed so the animals don't go in there and the smell doesn't get in there either. I don't understand how people live like that!!! It's absolutely disgusting! So it was great staying home.

I did laundry and cleaned and vacuumed and dusted and mopped. Then I hear from hubby. He locked his keys in his truck. They were going to try to find someone to jimmie it open, but never did, so I had to take my key to him to unlock the truck. The kid was going to have a friend of hers over, so I waited til she came over and then we went. Got there, opened the truck, stayed for maybe 10 minutes then came back home. It's maybe 30 miles out there I think. Maybe more, I can never remember. So much for staying home and saving gas too!! Got back home and cleaned up some more and made dinner for the girls. I was on my feet all day long except for the drive. So by the time hubby came home and I was ready to go to bed, my back and feet hurt so bad. Went right to bed. don't you love how amazing your bed feels when you are so pooped and achey??

Sunday, just did one more load of laundry. I stayed in my PJs ALL DAY LONG!! It was GREAT!! bummed around the house....didn't even take a step outside! Joe even took amanda's friend home sunday evening. I did NOTHING! Waahahhahaa!!! I so needed that! It was awesome!

Still Waiting...

Today is day 9 of the 7-10 business days that it was to take for my night guard to be made and sent. I haven't gotten too bad of headaches in the past week. I did wake up one morning with my neck and upper back killing me though. I'm guessing the back pain was caused by the same thing....it just spread below my neck this time. My neck usually hurts anyway though. Tomorrow is day 10! I don't really want to call and bug since it's still within the window of time they gave. But what if it's there and they just haven't gotten around to calling yet?? That has happened with other places. I've never waited for anything from this place, so I don't know...but it's happened where I'm waiting for something to come in and I'm not getting a call, so I call them and they say oh yeah, we have it, it's been in since yesterday, we just haven't been able to call you yet. Uh yeah. Sure. Sigh....I'm so ready to have it!!

Bastards!

It snowed all of about half an inch....if that...last night. Well, more in certain areas of the city. But where I live, we didn't even get that. So this morning I'm starting to get ready for work and my husband texts and says that the schools are on a 2 hour delay. So I told the kid. Then I turned on the tv to check on things. Of course the City isn't listed. So I called 311 to check. Nope, no delays. Pretty much Everything else was delayed today at Least! The university, schools, businesses, my freaking bank has a delayed day! So I turned off the tv and was thinking about getting ready for work. Then my husband texts again...the schools just announced they are cancelled for the day!!! WTF??? Idiots! Today is even supposed to be over 40! There is no reason for an entire school day to be cancelled for patchy, icy roads! It still pisses me off though that the City apparently doesn't care about hazardous road conditions and the welfare of their employees still trying to get to work at 730 and 8!!!

...and into the fire! And it was by choice! So I'm not complaining about that. Just about teenagers in general I suppose. I don't suppose it's any easier raising a teenager when you've been raising them since birth. But I sometimes think that having done that gives you an advantage as far as knowing your kid and being able to know what the heck to do with them I guess. But then again, there are plenty of parents who have been there the whole time and it's still like dealing with an entirely new person when their kid reaches the "terrible teens"! To quote Bill Cosby, children are brain damaged!! I don't know when they stop being brain damaged, but man, I hope it's soon! Seriously, this kid is bright...but holy crap, she is dumb as a rock sometimes and you think, is this the same kid?? What happened to my honor roll student??? Who is this brain damaged child?

Headaches....

Don't know if I've posted about this before, but I get some awful terrible, migraine-like headaches. I never knew what they were from. So last summer, I changed dentists and went to my first checkup at the new one. One of the first things the dental hygeinist asked me was if I wake up with neck pain and do I get a lot of headaches. I said 'yeeaahhh....why??' She said, 'Because you have a lot of wear on your teeth. You clench and grind your teeth at night.' Really?? So, she said that I can get a night guard from them that will keep my teeth apart so I can't clench my teeth and that my teeth will slide on when they do meet. It was Very expensive so I didn't do it. I got an inexpensive night guard from Walgreens and started wearing it. My headaches went away. For a while. Then they started coming back. So at my next appointment I told them about it. They said, 'Yeah, we used to recommend those ones until we discovered what they do.' The thing that goes in between your teeth that keeps them apart that you bite down on is somewhat soft. It's made out of silicone or something and it has some give. So at FIRST your jaw isn't used to it and it helps and the headaches go away for a while. THEN your jaw gets used to it and it's essentially exercising itself on the squishy bite pads and getting STRONGER! So then your headaches can be Worse than they were before! So great. So I stopped wearing it and I am breaking down and getting the expensive dentist one. I have an appointment at 230 tomorrow afternoon to get the molds done. I don't know how long it takes to come in, but I can't wait! I've been getting headaches every other day or every few days now. Its terrible!! So yay!! I can't wait to not have headaches!

Not Another Teen!

OMG! My stepdaughter is officially a TEEN today!! AAKKK!!! What more can I say?? Just O! M! G!

Maybe it's a tumor...

It's not a tumor. I've been getting these terrible migraine-like headaches that are sensitive to light and sound. Turns out they are tension headaches from clenching and grinding my teeth at night. Last summer my dental hygienist identified the wear on my teeth and ask if I wake up with neck pain and headaches. I was like yeeeaahhhh..... So she told me it's from grinding. She suggested I get a night guard from them that will prevent it. I opted not to at that point since they are SO expensive and for some dumb reason the dental insurance doesnt' cover them! So I got one from Walgreens that has a little thing that goes between your teeth. It worked, the headaches practically stopped. I'd still get little ones, but those were probably just normal run of the mill ones. Nothing like I'd had before. So all was well. Then they started coming again. Just one every now and then. Now I'm back to having a couple or few a week. So at my dentist appt in December I found out that what I'd been doing has made my jaw worse. The little thing between the teeth is slightly squishy. So at first it worked and the headaches went away. But as time went on, my jaw muscles strengthened because they were squeezing the little thing. And they came back. So I stopped wearing it and I'm now thinking I'm just going to break down, bring my credit card out of retirement, and get the damn thing so I don't have to deal with this crap anymore!

And Back Again....

It's been quite some time....again! Being a wife and mom is pretty time consuming! Who knew? HAHA!

Things have been going great. We've gotten some work done on the house and yard that are improvements. The only major problem right now is the roof. It's leaking...sigh...and we need the money to fix it. That's always an issue...money money money. Sheesh. What a pain.

Sweet Death

Death of a Sweet Broom plant that is. it's been almost 2 weeks since we planted them and there is one that is not doing so well. we thought he'd perk up. but he didn't. then he appeared to be only mostly dead and we were hoping he'd have some truly noble reason for hanging on. but apparently not. so now we're going to have to go back to home depot and hope they still have some of those so we can exchange it. although, according to my mother-in-law who apparently frequents home depot, they rotate their stock quite often so chances are we won't find the same plant. in which case, what the hell is the point of them having a 1 year guarantee? well i suppose you could make them order it in couldn't you? we lined them up next to the sidewalk, so we'd either have a big gap where it used to be or have to dig them all up and replace them all. which would be a huge pain in the ass. so yeah, i think i'd make them order it in. good idea. just in case it's not there anyway.

i have 2 rosebushes to plant this weekend that my husband got me the other day. a pink one and a red one. i've never planted roses so i read the directions and they are different. i have to soak the roots in water and build a little mound inside the hole to spread the roots out on. which actually sorta makes sense, but it'll take more work than everything else we've planted so far. and i have some bulbs i need to plant too. i forgot what they are. something with purple flowers and something with orange and white flowers.

and then we have to kill weeds. it's been hard to have the time to spray weed killer stuff cuz it's been so windy. i managed to spray some yesterday when i got home from work cuz it was only a little breezy. but we're going to have to mow them down. now how come in the 2 weeks that our bushes have been planted, the weeds have grown to about 6 times their height and there is no noticable difference in the plants??? some weeds are taller than the little bushes now!! especially around the bushes since they are getting water now.

and we have to work inside the house since it's only about 4 weeks til school is out and the kid moves in! time goes by so fast when there is a deadline! stuff did get moved out of her room last week, so it's getting closer. i still need to get all my crap out of her closet so she can use it. i have shelves in my shed now, so i can move a bunch of stuff out. then i have to paint her room. well, just one wall, so that'll be easy. hahahaha!!!

Here comes the rain again...

And we have boards in the back for our gate getting wet. We just bought them last weekend and hadn't had time to seal them yet. Since for some dumb reason, Lowe's doesn't sell wood that is obviously meant for fences...or gates...or other outdoor use that is treated! How dumb is that? So anyway, it started raining last night and I totally didn't think about it, but then my husband called me this morning cuz he had just realized our wood was outside getting rained on. So I'm going to run home at lunch and bring it into the kitchen to start drying out.

I have returned!

Wow, ever so much has happened since i last wrote. I got married, have a kid (stepdaughter..but still...). Wow! So I got married last month. I'm still working on changing my name on everything. That's been the hardest part. We just had a small ceremony at the courthouse, lunch at Capo's Italian Restaurant and then we went away for the weekend. My mom thought we should have a reception, so she took care of all that and we had it the next weekend. Then my grandma died. She actually had a stroke the day before we got married then passed away exactly 2 weeks later. So that was very hard. Talk about emotional roller coaster! But my husband was such a great comfort to me and really helped me get thru this. I just can't thank him enough!

We've been working on the house and yard to get it ready for the summer when we move his daughter in. we're still going between our house and his mom's house so we didn't have to pull her out of school. Trying to keep up on the weeds so they don't get overgrown like they did last summer. Moving furniture around to make room for the kid in the other bedroom. That's the computer room and junk room right now. so junk needs to come out, computer needs to come out. so all that is going to be out in the living room. i'm getting rid of crap little by little. i've actually hauled off a good deal of stuff. donated some to the thrift store. thrown some away. it's coming along. still have a ways to go....and only two months to get it done til the end of school. oh and the backyard has to be ready for the dogs to come live with us. we have one more gate to build and then i think it's ready. but with all the stickers from last year's weeds, it won't be ready yet. i don't know how we're going to clean them all up. they are probably going to be around for a while. but i guess the dogs will have to live there anyway. oh and we're ordering a bunch of bushes for the backyard, so we need to get the holes dug and all that for them cuz they are bare root and need to be dropped right away when we get them home. so we have a Lot of work ahead of us in the next couple weeks just on the yard itself. blech....

It's Aliiiiivveeee

Yeah, it's been a while. All the stuff with the house and moving and unpacking...and avoiding unpacking...mainly that. i still have so much to do that i so don't feel like doing.

11/27/06 holy crap, i started the above in september! apparently i havent been on here in a while. busy still. with things outside of home mainly. still working on crap at the house. still rearranging and trying to get rid of stuff. now i have an electrical issue that needs to be taken care of and a sinking porch. i was able to get a lot done over the long weekend thanks to my boyfriend. yup, there is a boyfriend. hence the being busy! hahahaa! so he helped a lot this weekend since we were both off. there is still a lot to do, but this weekend jump started things. i really want to get stuff done now. now that he helped me do a couple things that i couldn't do on my own. oh, and i developed bursitis in my left shoulder in august, so i havent' been able to do much lifting or anything. i haven't even played tennis since labor day weekend. so that's another reason i haven't been able to do certain things...cuz i've needed someone to come move something or whatever. so some big things got done so i can start on little stuff that i can handle on my own. i haven't even changed one of my clocks because i have to reach up for it and it's in a weird spot. things are starting to come together a little better now. just needed to get into a groove.

I'm Officially Moved In!!

I have Finally gotten all my crap moved in!! Yesterday I made my last couple of trips to the old house to clean up and move the last few things out. Although I did forget some popsicles in the freezer. Now I just need to get it all arranged in my new place. WOW i have a ton of shit! I'm seriously going to have to go thru everything and get rid of stuff. How did I collect so much crap?!?

Still Moving

Holy crap i'm pooped! I've been moving crap all weekend. AND having to deal with my mom on top of it all. That just makes it all the more tiring cuz it's so draining having to deal with her. BUT she's helping, so i'm tolerating. Like she's all bugged cuz it's taking me so long to move. Yeah, i'm just doing it after work and crap, so yeah, it's not going to be all that quick. I did take a couple days off last week to do stuff. My fuck toy let me borrow his truck when i was off, so that helped considerably. Then I went back to work on friday to rest before the weekend's moving. Now i'm back and work and just sooo tired! At least I have tennis tonight after work so I won't be able to really move much of anything. I can just get some rest tonight. And see how much my mom has moved today! She said she was going to come into town and pack and move crap for me! woohoo!! THAT'S why i tolerate her! HAHA!

Happy Homo...

...wner. When i was going home from closing I called my mom and said that i just became a homeowner she goes, "HOMO??" So i had to repeat myself. She started cracking up and told my dad that I became a homo as she was cackling to herself. So holy crap! I have a house!! On Sunday me and my mom went running around getting a few things. She got me a screen door and a new faucet for my kitchen. I got some bathroom stuff, a curved shower curtain rod, towel rods and some little accessories that were on clearance! shower curtain, waste basket, toothbrush holder, soap dish. ALL in the color I wanted and those were the only color that was on clearance! The same exact style ones in different colors were regular price! HHAAHA!! So last night I took a few boxes to the house and installed my towel hangers. I had one rod and one ring for a hand towel. i might do my curtain rod tonight. then my bathroom will pretty much be done. i'll just need to move the rest of my bathroom stuff over. It's gonna take me forever to move cuz before I actually got the house, i just wasn't motivated to do anything cuz i didn't have a house yet! But NOW! Yikes! i have a ton of stuff to move!! it's going to be insane! I'm taking a day or two off this week to get crap taken care of. Probably tomorrow and thursday. EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Closing rescheduled

Ok, closing was supposed to have been yesterday. But there was some delay with the paperwork. So now it's scheduled for tomorrow. And i still don't have an amount that i need to take in with me! They are really on the ball with this. Are they usually this retarded?? This is my first experience, so i don't know. But yikes. It's like no one is communicating with each other. They are very on top of it. But oh! I went to do another quick little walk thru on Monday just to check things out cuz it had been raining like mad the past few days and it's a flat roof and has a skylight, so i wanted to see if it leaked. Well, it leaks. The skylight does, not the roof itself. It hasn't rained since Sunday and it doesn't look like it will anytime soon either. So as soon as i take possession i'm going to have someone out there to look at it and get it fixed properly. Cuz I went up on the roof on monday to check it out. The skylight, first of all, has caulking all around it. HA! So naturally that's dried up and peeled away from the skylight. Hence the leak. That's it. I didn't think that was any major deal. And the seller is going to give me more of a repair credit for that. So that's cool. So now the closing is scheduled for 3pm tomorrow. So well see if this one goes thru!

House

And not the one with Hugh Laurie....sigh...oh well. A girl can dream. But anyway, things are progressing nicely with the house I put an offer on last month. Closing is drawing near. I'm beginning to feel twinges of excitement about this. My mom is still more excited about this than I am at this point. It's not mine yet, no reason to be all excited for something that isn't mine. She doesn't understand that. But I said when I get the keys in my hot little hands, THEN it'll be a different story. Just waiting now. Closing should be next week sometime.
